KOCH OSB Dryers
The KOCH Flatline Strand Dryer is a low temperature, high production dryer for the OSB industry. It offers superior drying performance over conventional rotary dryers while substantially reducing the release of VOCs and other regulated emissions. The KOCH dryer efficiently reduces the wood strand’s moisture content to 3-5% by weight at process temperatures below 400°F.
Because of low process temperatures and low exhaust air volumes, the KOCH Flatline Strand Dryer can help OSB manufacturers meet EPA emission regulations while eliminating or reducing the size of costly “add-on” control devices.
The KOCH strand dryer is engineered to process wood strands at a rate of 35,000 lbs/hr. of dried strands (O.D.). The dryer can accommodate strands from 6” long and longer x 1.5” wide x .30” thick.
This new and innovative drying technology can be an important tool for controlling production costs while improving product quality.
The KOCH Wafer Dryer is Advanced Technology That Benefits the User in Many Important Ways:
- A wide variety of wood species can be processed without compromising product quality and production output
- Higher wood yields are produced due to less physical damage to strands during the drying process
- Energy costs are reduced because the KOCH dryer uses a waste wood burner as both the primary heat source and the pollution control device. This is accomplished through indirect heating (thermal oil) of the dryer and by using the dryer’s exhaust gases as combustion air for the waste wood burner.
- Users gain maximum process flexibility through precisely controlled, individual drying zones.
- Low temperature drying is an effective form of emission control and a positive step towards environmental compliance.
