- Manages approximately 90 employees in engineering and manufacturing area.
- Member of Senior Executive Management Team.
- Ensures successful completion of engineering and manufacturing projects.
Education, Training and/or Experience:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Project Management, MBA (preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 or more years experience managing manufacturing plants in the industry.
- Possesses strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical communication and computer skills.
- Has the ability to effectively interface with President, Board of Directors, peers and subordinates.
- One year field experience preferred.
- Has the ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Mission:
Engineer products in a way that demonstrates the superior quality and service that GKS provides to customers. Work with Project Manager to ensure that schedules and plans are followed. Works as part of a project team to ensure that finished projects meet customer expectations and GKS standards of quality and timeliness.
Responsibilities:
Works with other team members to maximize responsiveness to engineering issues as they arise.
Provides estimates and quotes for new projects.
Ensures that the equipment supplied meets the performance objectives. Ensures compliance with regulatory and industrial safety standards on all engineering designs and specifications.
Sizes and designs equipment per specifications.
Supports manufacturing and field activities with technical interpretations and problem solving.
Selects and orders parts and equipment necessary to fulfill contracts.
Ensures that all KOCH engineering and design standards are followed.
Creates system layouts and detail drawings.
Develops designs that maximize quality and safety.
Makes field inspection trips for all projects to gather site information for interfaces between systems. Assists in field installation and startups when necessary.
Completes engineering analysis work and prepares supporting reports, such as the sizing and analysis of steel designs and conveyor design.
Ensures that the scope of work and deliverables of the contract are translated to engineering specifications at all times throughout the course of the project.
Ensures that the material and engineering budgets are met.
Provides drawings and descriptions for change orders for additional work prior to execution.
Documents all critical information in writing.
Ensures that all engineering documents are maintained in good order, i.e., drawings, description of operation, sequence of operation, owner’s manual, reports, etc.
Helps prepare and maintain engineering schedules and plans.
Recognizes and takes appropriate corrective action when technical difficulties arise that can put the final outcome of the project in jeopardy.
Consults others within the GKS organization when necessary for problem-solving and risk analysis.
Supervises and directs engineering subcontractors.
Creates designs for the project and/or supervises any designers and draftsmen working on the project by checking drawings, advising, etc.
Provides sales and estimating expertise. Assists manufacturing as required.
Researches standards for improvement opportunities and develops engineering tools that lead to improve engineering performance and cost-effective designs.
Develops and maintains best-in-the-industry qualifications in at least one key area of our business (i.e. E-coat, curtain coating, waterborne finishes, etc.) through personal experience, seminars, etc.
Demonstrates continuous improvement in personal performance.

Requisite Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
1. Ability to execute engineering of most KOCH equipment.
2. Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
3. Ability to speak a second language (preferred).
4. Skills in current software applications, i.e., AutoCAD and MS Office products
Education, Training and/or Experience:
B.S. Engineering or Technology Degree, or equivalent experience.
Professional Engineer certification (preferred).
Experience in the industry (KOCH or equivalent).
Experience with industrial equipment estimating and/or sales (preferred).
